I'm not liking the trend of ad based Gawker followers.

I presume that there are people also getting notified that people are following them, and you find their post history and it looks like it’s nothing but ads for products? There doesn’t seem to be a way to remove them from following or report them. Anyone got a solution for this?

They come and go. Just ignore them.

Some others and myself brought this up a while ago. There isn’t anything you can do about them following you but then again they can’t do anything either.

It’s just irritating when you get that notification but they can’t do anymore than anyone else when you click on someones name and you see what they’ve posted.

They will get bored.

However, I will not get bored as I am drinking No Name Java. A family owned coffee company in St. Petersburg, FL with over a dozen types of coffee they specifically blend and roast for your drinking pleasure.

Try it now at: http://www.nonamejava.com/

It tastes like amazing in a cup!

The only thing you can really do is click on their profile and go on a flagging rampage. (unfortunately, that only works on replies, not blog posts)

Hi! Ernie McErnieson here, proud member of the Kinja Tech family. Our family is large and diverse, and includes code, ads, servers, assorted robots, and a few human beings. One thing we cannot stand is spam, follow spam being the latest and lamest trend. It’s heartbreaking and makes my eyes water.

For now, follow the suggestion of your fellow Opponauts; simply ignore them. We’re hoping to have a solution for spam blogs and their follow tactics in the coming months.

Also, Ernie McErnieson? That’s extra points in my book.
